Here is a guide to understanding some of the
terminology used by Enviro Printers...

Recycle
The symbols to the left and right denote products that can be recycled. Most notably the outline version to the right is used for paper products that are recyclable.

Recycled
These symbols refer to products that contain materials that have been recycled. Sometimes the actual percentage of recycled material appears as in the symbol at right.

Recycled Paperboard
The 100% recycled paperboard symbol is owned by RPA-100% and is reserved exclusively for licensed use on products and packaging made with 100% recycled paperboard, and use of the symbol is free for licensees of RPA-100% and used on products and packaging made from 100% recycled paperboard.

Corrugated Packaging Alliance

Corrugated fiberboard, or combined board, has two main components: the linerboard and the medium. Both are made of a special kind of heavy paper called containerboard. Linerboard is the flat facing that adheres to the medium. The medium is the wavy, fluted paper in between the liners


Forest Stewardship
Council

Forest Stewardship Council
A non-profit organization devoted to encouraging the responsible management of the world's forests. FSC sets high standards that ensure forestry is practiced in an environmentally responsible, socially beneficial, and economically viable way.

FSC certification is required to use the label. Both the paper supplier and printer must be certified.

Sustainable Forestry Initiative
The SFI program has a comprehensive labeling program that includes percent content labels for those who choose to use Chain of Custody (CoC). Certified printers and publishers are eligible for on-product label use and CoC certification.
SFI CoC certification provides assurances to your customers that the products you are using come from legal and sustainable sources.

Green Seal®
A science-based environmental certification standard... Product evaluations are conducted using a life-cycle approach to ensure that all significant environmental impacts of a product are considered, from raw materials extraction through manufacturing to use and disposal..

Chlorine Free Products Association
An independent not-for-profit accreditation/standard setting association promoting sustainable manufacturing practices, educating consumers on alternatives, and developing world markets for sustainable produced third party certified products and services.

Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification
A system of mutually recognized standards and certifications -- recognizes and endorses more than 20 certification systems (including SFI) -- that are shared globally. A primary goal is to combat illegal logging.

Green-e
An independent certification and verification program for renewable energy and greenhouse gas emission reductions in the retail market.

Businesses that purchase a qualifying amount of Green-e Certified renewable energy can license the Green-e logo for use in communications materials, advertising, and on-product packaging through Green-e Marketplace.

Association

Envelope Manufacturers Association
In conjunction with the Direct Marketing Association and the Magazine Publishers of America, the Envelope Manufacturers Association has launched a "Please Recycle" Program to inform consumers that envelopes, along with magazines, catalogues, and newspapers are recyclable.
